Non-Members Fishing the Pools We are aware of recent incidents of non-members fishing on our pools. The club does not use bailiffs, but relies instead on our own members who are fishing to observe and monitor any person’s behaviour on the pools. Please remember Barnton 30 members are encouraged in a courteous manner to see each other’s membership cards. and ensure we all fish in a way that recognises our rules and values. So please expect to be asked to show your membership card and also feel free to ask others fishing to show evidence of their membership and that they are current 2026 to 2027 members of Barnton 30 club. If you feel there may be a potential problem or have concerns with any others fishing, please share with other members who may be fishing with you, especially to any committee member present or report by phone to:
Thank you in anticipation of your help. |
The Club is believed to have originally been formed in 1937, initially with just 30 members, hence the name. The club has three waters, sited within Anderton Nature Park, which were originally used as water storage cisterns for a salt works alongside the Trent & Mersey Canal.

The Club strives to be a integral part of the community, and though the fishing is strictly members only, the pools offer an amenity for the wider community to enjoy.
We would be interested in members letting us know about any particularly good (or otherwise) sport they have had at the club waters. Reports are listed on the How Was The Fishing Forum, where you can submit your own comments for inclusion.
