Working Party Attendance

All members please be aware of Club Constitution Rule 10, which states that :

“All members are required to attend at least one working party in order to keep the waters in good order. Any members NOT attending cannot fish club waters prior to 1st August“.

The Officials and Committee of the club wish to thank all members that attended last years working parties.

The number of members attending over the last few years have been much better and the results of better attendance are clear for all to see. So many improvements were achieved. It would be good to get similar, or better, attendance this year in order to achieve more improvements to the pool’s appearance. Therefore, all members are encouraged to attend as many working parties as possible in order that we can maintain and increase the improvements to the pools.

The committee considers that, if members are fit enough to carry their fishing gear in order to fish, then they are likely to be fit enough to contribute in some way at work parties. No-one is expected to carry out tasks beyond their physical capabilities. There will always be some less strenuous jobs that need doing, such as staining timbers or raking up hedge trimmings.

Every little helps, so let’s see you there !

For any member with an underlying medical condition which may be aggravated by undertaking activities or being exposed to environments identified above, you should check with your GP before considering attending a Work Party. This should establish what work activities you can safely undertake, and also highlight any which might have a negative impact upon your condition.

Examples of medical problems which may be aggravated by work activities include :-

  • Cardiac/vascular condition – Which may be aggravated by heavy lifting
  • Respiratory condition – Which may be aggravated by physical activity
  • Musculo-skeletal condition – Which may be aggravated by physical activity, damp conditions, etc.
  • Skin condition – Which may be aggravated by water, wood, dust, oils, etc.

Finally, attendance at club Work Parties is entirely voluntary and, as with fishing at the pools, members attending do so entirely at their own risk.
